2023 IBCPC Preparations on the Willamette River

On a recent evening at the Portland waterfront, Pacific Northwest Pink Lemonade—a newly formed dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors from Vancouver’s Catch 22 and Portland’s Pink Phoenix—gathered in matching shirts to stretch, chant, and paddle in sync on the Willamette River. Cheers erupted as they announced their upcoming trip to New Zealand, the team is preparing to compete in the International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission Dragon Boat Festival. The team will practice three times a week until they depart in early April, united in strength, rhythm, and purpose.
